Our Story
Wholistic Woman Tea was not created in a lab or marketing meeting. It was born in living rooms, at bedside visits, and in the quiet hours after birth when women whispered fears they felt they should already know how to handle.
The story began in July 1989 in Ritzville, Washington, when I founded Total Health Center out of my home while raising my young children. What started as a small natural health business grew into multiple storefront locations in Spokane and Long Beach, Washington. For twenty-five years, our store served as a trusted community hub for organic foods, herbal remedies, and handcrafted loose leaf herbal tea blends.
By the 1990s, we were formulating and blending organic loose leaf herbal teas on site. Through thousands of conversations across the counter, I witnessed how deeply women were seeking trustworthy, plant-based support for pregnancy, postpartum recovery, lactation, hormonal balance, and overall wellness.
As a midwife and herbalist, I also saw how many women left birth depleted and under-supported. Sitting with new mothers who were physically and emotionally exhausted, I created pregnancy and postpartum tea blends out of necessity. Drawing from traditional plant wisdom and clinical experience, I formulated teas designed to truly nourish the body rather than simply market hope in a beautiful package.
Those early blends became part of every midwifery care package I provided. Our Pregnancy & Postpartum Support Tea, Lactation Tea, and Soothing Soak Tea were shared through word of mouth long before online marketing or national distribution. When the storefront closed permanently in July 2013, customers continued seeking our herbal teas for women’s health, and we quietly continued small batch production.
In 2023, it became clear that it was time to bring Wholistic Woman Tea forward publicly and expand beyond word of mouth sales. What began with a handful of midwife formulated blends has grown into a line of seventeen organic herbal tea formulas, with continued thoughtful expansion. Each blend remains practitioner rooted, experience tested, and grounded in decades of listening to women’s bodies and recovery stories.
Wholistic Woman Tea specializes in organic loose leaf herbal tea for pregnancy, postpartum recovery, lactation support, and women’s wellness. In a marketplace saturated with mass-produced blends, our teas stand apart because they are midwife formulated, clinically informed, and created with integrity over trend and nourishment over novelty.
Over time, my work expanded beyond midwifery into women’s health consulting and trauma informed leadership coaching. I began noticing a powerful connection: the same women who were depleted postpartum were often the same women striving to hold everything together in demanding workplaces. Whether supporting reproductive health through herbal tea and education or guiding leaders in building psychologically safe, human centered cultures, my mission remains the same: restoration and strength.
At its heart, Wholistic Woman is about restoring and strengthening what women have always carried: their wisdom, their strength, and their ability to lead in their homes, communities, and workplaces.
Education has always been central to this work. We believe informed women create stronger families and communities. When women’s health is supported, physically, emotionally, and socially, children and entire family systems are more likely to thrive.
Wholistic Woman Tea is based in Spokane, Washington, and serves women locally, regionally, and nationally through our online store. We are committed to organic sourcing, small batch blending, and transparent herbal formulation practices.
Five percent of our sales support nonprofit organizations dedicated to women and children. Our company is built on the values of integrity, trust, transparency, and authenticity. Business, to us, must serve a purpose beyond profit.
We acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional homelands of the Spokane Tribe, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, the Kalispel Tribe of Indians, and the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. We honor their enduring presence and remain committed to respectful stewardship and continued learning.
This company was built through decades of hands on service, entrepreneurial leadership, and unwavering belief in women’s capacity to thrive when they are truly nourished. As we expand nationally, that commitment remains unchanged.
Women deserve more than survival.
They deserve restoration.
They deserve strength.
And they deserve support that honors the fullness of who they are.
