From the Founder
“I am the founder and president of Wholistic Woman. Prior to launching Wholistic Woman Tea, I spent 25 years building and leading Total Health Foods Natural Grocery & Cafe, a full-service natural and organic market and deli that served communities across Washington State. My work as an entrepreneur has always been rooted in creating spaces where health, education, and integrity come together.
Alongside my business leadership, I practiced as a birth worker and midwife for decades. My path into midwifery began in the 1980s after experiencing firsthand how compassionate, informed midwifery care empowers women to give birth with dignity and autonomy. That experience shaped the course of my professional life.
I am the mother of four children and grandmother to fifteen grandchildren, who have been among my greatest teachers in love, presence, and perspective. Even as a child, I was drawn to building and creating. Entrepreneurship and birth work became the natural expressions of that instinct to nurture both people and possibility.
Herbs have been a steady thread throughout my life. I have formulated and used medicinal teas for decades, originally blending them for midwifery clients and natural health customers seeking trustworthy, plant-based support. Though I attempted more than once to step away from tea production, the continued demand and deep loyalty of customers made it clear that this work still had life in it. Today, I am committed to expanding Wholistic Woman Tea nationally, offering both longtime favorites and thoughtfully developed new blends, along with expanded educational resources for women and families.
After retiring from the on-call demands of midwifery, I expanded my work into consulting and executive coaching focused on trauma-informed leadership and women’s health systems. Grounded in graduate studies in Organizational Leadership and formal coach training, I partner with founders, healthcare professionals, and mission-driven organizations navigating growth, complexity, and cultural change. My work centers on building psychologically safe, human-centered environments where leaders strengthen internal capacity and create sustainable impact.
A portion of my professional work also supports accessible care initiatives, including birth debriefing and women’s health guidance offered at reduced or no cost. This integrated model allows both impact and sustainability to coexist.
Outside of my professional work, I cherish time with my children, grandchildren, dogs, and close friends. I love herbs, books, writing, cooking whole foods, meaningful conversation, travel, and regenerative farming. These interests continue to inform both my personal life and the philosophy behind Wholistic Woman.
